SIMPLE WATER TANK OVERFLOW ALARM CIRCUIT

"WATER IS PRECIOUS, SAVE EVERY DROP"

water tank alarm

No Living Beings exist without Water.
So we have to save water in any way that we can.

A considerable amount of water will be lost everyday, during the refilling of water tank by overflowing it in our home.

We can avoid this, if you have a little knowledge with Electronics.

I am introducing the following simple circuit which consists of only 3 Transistors (Commonly Available) and a melody generating IC UM66.

You can replace UM66 with any alarm generating IC according to your convenience.

Mount this circuit on PCB or a breadboard.

CIRCUIT EXPLANATION

The transistors Q1 and Q2 forms a "Darlington Pair" , in which when a high resistance appears across the input it will trigger and producing an output Voltage.
This Voltage is used to switch the alarm circuit consisting of UM66.

The transistor Q3 will amplify the melody sound produced by UM66 IC and it will drive the speaker.

Note:-

Try to reduce the length of Probe, used to link with water tank.

The circuit is powered by a 9V Battery.

Transistors Q1 and Q3 may be any of the Common NPN type.

  2. Hi,

I tried this circuit and works very well...

Keep the input terminals away from each other, without getting short circuited (dont touch across these terminals because our skin too offers a conducting path)....

    Try it.....

    All the best

  4. i have tried but i dont got output, i put wires directly in the water is it correct?

  5. Yaa, but before dipping into the water test your circuit whether it is working.
By short circuiting the input terminals.

  7. Hi Tittu,

I am curious... Can I drive an LED instead of using speaker for alarm?

  8. @Abdullah

Its possible to drive an LED using this circuit. but for that you don't need a um66 ic..
